London Shines at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce AGM and Convention
October 12-14, 2023, Kristen Duever - VP of Public Affairs for the London Chamber of Commerce attended the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CCC) AGM and Convention in Calgary.
While there, Kristen was able to network and share ideas with many of her peers from across the country. Additionally, she had the opportunity to meet Alberta Premier, Danielle Smith; Calgary Mayor, Jyoti Gondek; and even Brett Wilson of Dragon’s Den.
Of course, one of the signature pieces of the event is the policy debate in which delegates present policy positions and vote to determine the priorities of the national chamber for the next 3 years. This year, Kristen presented a position on bail reform and mental health supports aimed at improving safety for businesses against crime and violence - and particularly for businesses located in downtown cores. The position received overwhelming support from delegates from all regions with many of them stepping up to the mic to express that support.
Additionally, the London Chamber was proud to be a supporting chamber on two other papers which also received majority support from the voting delegates. One on modernizing immigration supports to help meet the needs of our workforce; and the other on ensuring that local airport authorities have the support and funding that they require to be successful.
And it wasn’t just your local Chamber that did London proud at the recent AGM and Convention. We are also pleased to say that one of our members, eSupply Canada was honoured with one of the CCC’s first ever Inclusive Growth Awards.
